Sea cliffs and the fauna of the Regional Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo

Established in 1994, the Regional Natural Park of Monte San Bartolo colleague Gabicce to Pesaro and marks the beginning of the hills of the Adriatic coast of central Italy, is the first high-stretch of coast from Trieste and allows a panoramic view of the coast and on sea. Park, offers unsurpassed color games behind crystalline water of the coast with cliffs and striking flowering broom. The protected area has very beautiful natural areas, the most important are: the flowering broom, the expanses of straws of Pliny, the Aleppo pine and the rare sea flax. Numerous and constantly increasing number of animal species in the park, the protected area are deer, foxes, badgers, porcupines as well as numerous sea birds and raptors.

The cliffs of the San Bartolo emerges from low beaches of Romagna Marches as a succession of undulating spurs which break on the sea, interrupted by cliffs. The shares of the highest peaks near the cliff does not reach the 200 meters, but still allow view of the coast and the sea, while the cliffs are an unusual seascape for coastal sandy of Romagna and the Marche. The cliff shows areas of high geological interest with fish fossils and rare crystals of gypsum, runs behind the beach of fine gravel and pebbles used as a quarry until the second half of the twentieth century, today protected by the Park. Along some stretches of the coast have developed dense submerged meadows of Zostera marina and Cymodocea nodosa. These plants are a natural heritage of great value and are protected by Italian law on the conservation of biodiversity, it is thanks to these flooded grasslands that slows the erosion and encourage the preservation of natural sandy areas, also constitute a real "nursery" for many varieties of fish.
